Each one should use whatever gift he/she has received to serve others; faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms (1 Pt 4:10)

The Parish Pastoral Team of Monaghan & Rackwallace inspired by the values of the Gospel aims to engage with parishioners and priests in promoting a vibrant parish community, by listening to and respecting the needs of everyone, thereby encouraging a sense of belonging to and ownership in the parish.

The team meets on the first Wednesday of the month, except in July and August. Members will serve a three year term.

Sequence of events this far:

  1. September to November 2010: A working group was set up to aim at setting up a parish pastoral council.
  2. November: The people were addressed at Masses about setting up a council. Fliers were also circulated.
  3. November 15th 2010: A public meeting took place in St. Macartan's College and nominations were accepted.
  4. November 22nd 2010: Election of nominated members. 8 members were drawn from the Working Group and 6 members from the list of nominated members.
  5. December 2010: The members of the new parish pastoral team were invited to evening tea. 
  6. January 2011: First meeting of team and training commenced.
  7. February/March: 3 nights of training. 1. The Council  2. Group dynamics 3. Conflict Resolution
  8. April & May: The team met to work on establishing a mission statement.
